Public Toilet Renovation

Community

Ray of Joy Foundation has demonstrated its commitment to improving sanitation and hygiene by adopting two public toilets in the Nagpur chawl slum of Yerwada, Pune, Maharashtra.

This commendable initiative has been undertaken in collaboration with the Pune Municipal Corporation, with the Foundation taking responsibility for the upkeep of these toilets until March 2022.

As part of this adoption, the Ray of Joy Foundation has undertaken significant renovations. The toilets have been repainted, all taps have been replaced, and brand new wash basins have been installed. In addition, crucial hygiene measures have been implemented, including the installation of soap and sanitizer dispensers. These efforts aim to ensure that people can maintain proper hygiene, especially during these challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, the renovated toilets were re-opened to the public, signifying a fresh start. The honourable Dr.Siddhartha Dhende, ex-deputy mayor of Pune, had the privilege of inaugurating the upgraded facilities. Such initiatives play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for the residents of the Nagpur chawl slum and contribute towards building a healthier and more hygienic community.
